I asked Gian Matteo Fagnini, who is without doubt the most skilled and acrobatic rider, to pilot me through the last corners where the parcours was dangerous. We had studied it and did not want to be surprised. I then charged Andrus Aug, who is faster, to lead out the sprint in the last 300 metres. Our plan worked well and this victory has liberated me. I have not won since the Giro and I was starting to find it a very long time."
